Pen Affairs is a family passion project first and a company second.
That is the part no one else can copy.
We are Tania Meixner and Karen Anderson, daughter and mother. Tania came up in design and carries a deep love of ink, with real ties to the makers who mix it. Karen keeps the whole thing warm and grounded, the way mothers do.
When the Miami Pen Show, which so many of us grew up on, needed new hands, we took it, and we moved it to the water. We leaned into the things we love: workshops that teach a real skill, an ink bar you can lose an afternoon at, custom show inks named for this place, and a floor where a first-timer feels as welcome as a lifelong collector.
Our aim is simple. Raise the profile of a very cool subculture, the pen community, and build destination events that mix commerce, learning, and connection in a setting that feels like a getaway. Honor the vintage roots. Cheer on the modern makers. Send everyone home with something they could not have found anywhere else.

Long before us, this show was built into an international destination for pen lovers, drawing dealers and collectors from across the country and beyond. We are proud to carry that forward, keeping the history alive while writing the next chapters ourselves.

When the Miami Pen Show premiered 33 years ago, it made Florida a destination for lovers of vintage and modern fountain pens and accessories.
Tania Meixner is a kitchen and bath designer and a part of the family-run, Florida-based fountain pen ink company Anderillium. She and her mother, Karen Anderson, attend most of the U.S. pen shows as representatives of Anderillium. When it became necessary to cancel the 2023 Miami Pen Show in Miami, Florida, they saw an opportunity.
The previous owner, Bert Oser, agreed to sell the show to Meixner’s company, Pen Affairs, LLC.
We want to raise awareness of this very cool sub-culture: the pen community,” said Tania Meixner. Miami has a reputation as a vintage-centric pen show, and while that focus continues, modern writing instruments are also a major focus. Larger vendors such as OMAS and Nahvalur are joined by boutique artisan brands such as Magnolia Pens, Little Hollow Pens, and Divine Pens Plus.
Meixner and Anderson are leaning heavily into Miami’s reputation as a coastal and artistic destination. In addition to traditional classes and seminars on subjects such as calligraphy, journaling, and history, the Miami show will feature classes by local pen and ink artists. The
Reef is the unique ocean-themed testing station, called an “ink bar,” and it’s hard to miss with its staging of sand, seaweed, and consciously kitschy elements such as a pink flamingo.
No surprise: the official 2024 show ink, Vizcaya Green (named after a local historical mansion and botanical garden), is provided by Anderillium. Anderson, who creates custom colors for Anderillium, says, “It was a challenge, to be sure! It took many iterations to achieve this lovely green.” The pen show renaissance continues. According to Meixner, the dynamic mother-daughter duo is palpably excited: “We’re ready to go, and we aim for this show to give everyone a great time!”
